Lighting work

I have been so incredibly fortunate to become friends with some amazing photographers across Canada, it’s really quite surprising how small and close knit of an industry it is.  I have had the great fortune to meet in a few in person (and some I sure hope it’s not too much longer before we can connect).

One of the first people I meet in an online forum group was a fantastic newborn and maternity photographer from Vancouver, Ewa with Mamique Photography.  We have connected up over the years and both photographed predominantly natural light.  Between dreary Vancouver days and long winter months in the Cariboo, we decided we needed to work out a new lighting system that would allow us to photograph, any time of year, in any condition replicating the same beautiful result that natural light gives.

I spent a weekend in January photographing with Ewa in her beautiful studio.  We worked strictly with studio lighting and three adorable tiny models to practise, learn and tackle the lighting.  It is such a treat to be able to work with another photographer, there is nothing like bouncing ideas off someone who totally gets it :)

Here are the results from our day with three very cooperative adorable babies and strictly studio lighting!

Gorgeous! Congrats on getting the studio lighting down – looks amazing.

  2. Visiting from LSI board! These are awesome! I just started experimenting with lighting as I am in Oregon, and the cloudy days by far outnumber the sunny ones.

Question… where did you get that blue/orange/brown woven blanket at? I am in love!
